Basic Function
Implements, debugs, documents, and supports applications for the test measurement and automation industry in a variety of development environments.
Responsibilities
- Works closely with senior software and hardware engineers to develop and deploy fully automated test system solutions for a wide range of customers and applications
- Designs and implements functional algorithms that operate within predefined architectures
- Successfully completes training and certification programs relating to software development for the test and measurement industry
- Learns and utilizes ARC’s standard operating procedures (SOP)
- Creates required SOP Engineering documentation, and utilizes the company-wide ERP system for project success
- Some local and national travel will be required, but is typically less than 15%.
Skills
- Must have an understanding of software engineering practices and principles
- Must have an ability to program in a modern development environment/language, and a willingness and aptitude for learning new programming languages
- Self-motivated and proactive with a positive attitude and a willingness to be hands-on with engineering projects
- Work with an engineering team as well as independently without constant supervision
- Ability to think and act quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to ensure deadlines are met
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education/Training
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or an Associates Degree in related field plus two years of programming experience
Experience
0-3 years experience in the engineering field
Expectations Within First 90 Days
- Will work towards becoming familiar with the LabVIEW, CVI and TestStand development environments
- Will achieve lowest level (CLAD) certification in LabVIEW
- Will become familiar with ARC software development practices through training and mentoring
- Will begin producing usable code in assigned language on assigned project
